Why Photography Matters To Me

Hey there, Wrus here. So, let’s talk about photography and why it matters—really matters—in our lives. We’re lucky to live in a time where everyone has a camera in their pocket. Got an iPhone? Boom, instant photos anytime, anywhere. It’s amazing, actually. I’m a dad with three boys, so trust me—I get how nice it is to snap a quick shot of them without thinking twice. Those everyday photos are little treasures in their own way.

But let me tell you something: there’s a difference between snapping a photo and capturing a moment.

You see, when I’m working with clients, it’s about more than just pressing a button. I’m there to catch the split second when your kid laughs at a silly joke, the look in your eyes when you’re standing next to the person you love, or that quiet, unexpected expression that reveals more than words could ever say. Those are the moments that stick with you. They’re honest, sometimes raw, and always real. And that’s where the magic happens.

With a professional shoot, I’m able to control light, angles, and all those little technical details that make a photo go from “nice” to “wow.” iPhones are amazing, no doubt, but they aren’t built to replace the art of a photograph crafted with skill and intention. They capture snapshots, but a professional captures your story.

So, go ahead and take all the iPhone photos you want. They’re a great way to remember the everyday stuff, and I’m all for it. But when it comes to the moments that really mean something, the ones you want to print, frame, or look back on with your kids one day, there’s something to be said for doing it right.

Photography is about freezing time in a way that takes you back, that helps you see all those little things you didn’t even realize were happening. That’s what I love about what I do, and that’s why it’s worth getting in front of a lens—whether it’s for a big family event, a milestone, or just because. The everyday deserves to be remembered, but those once-in-a-lifetime moments? They deserve to be celebrated.
